Gender Equality Mela

The RSWS in collaboration with several organize the Yuvak-Yuvati mela to make students aware of gender Equality. For the preparation of yuvak yuvati mela, we organize various things from preparing visitor’s list, to act as a facilitator, to act as volunteers and also to purchase of mela goods, printing material, to talk with the decorator, to mobilize the people for attending the program, etc. On the background of yuvak yuvati mela, the Rubi social welfare society selected volunteers and facilitators from the social work colleges of Nagpur. The training is provided to selected volunteers and facilitators by Rubina Patel and the organization team two days before the festival.

The Fest was organized this year in collaboration with Seva Dal Shikshan Sansthan, Nagpur. Noted social workers, and other guests present on the dais with our beloved Rubina Patel (Secretary, Rubi Social Welfare Society). Rubina Patel introduces the program and talks about the importance of self-dependency of women in society. In a patriarchal society, though the task is difficult there is a need to change gender-based disparities. With this motive, the fair is organized to bring equality amongst genders. The fair starts by cutting message posters by the hands of all guests and playing various games on gender discrimination. The secretary of the organization Rubina Patel gave a briefing about the aim of organizing this youth fest every year. Honorable chief guests said through their inaugural speech that there is the violence happening on women since ages. There has been this culture of inequality which was normalized in the society. People blindly believed the rituals and customs which were discriminatory on women. To break this belief a lot of struggle took place and is still happening in different ways. There are various stalls arranged on handicraft and many debates are arranged every year where we discuss different topics on women empowerment, rights for women and gender discrimination.
